My Husband Was Right

Sometimes I need to admit when I'm wrong and my husband is right. And he was right about this...

Steve had been wanting us to get the NutriBullet for awhile. He had talked to several people at work that had one and he wanted to make smoothies. I pictured a big mess I'd end up cleaning up and more trips to the grocery store as he liquified all the fruits and vegetables in the house. I put it off for as long as possible. The downfall was that he was out shopping with me and put one in the cart just to think about. Well, we all know that things that go in the cart rarely go back on the shelf.

But guess who's ended up really liking it?!? Yours, truly. You see, I've had a yogurt with my breakfast just about every morning for the past 20 years.

Boring...right? I mean I did just recently switch to Greek to mix it up, but still. Who wouldn't rather have this?

Yum! Now I just put my yogurt, a little bit of milk, a few strawberries, and some ice in the NutriBullet and voila...it's a new and interesting concoction that's good for me, too!

Seriously, this is tasty.

There are a lot of other combinations/recipes you can make, too. Steve has put kale, apples, carrots, grapes, avocado, orange juice, and more in his smoothies and is loving them!

So today I stand corrected. I really do like the smoothie machine and it hasn't turned out to be as messy as I thought. And Steve is even going to grocery store for fruits and vegetables more often, so everyone wins!

How about you? Has your husband been right about anything lately? You can admit it here and it'll be our little secret!

  2. Looks nice and compact! That's my fear with these smoothie makers - we essentially have a galley-kitchen, so space is a premium! And as for what hubby's been right about... Reluctantly I can confess it's the fake grass in our garden - no-one ever guesses it's not real, and it means zero mowing and maximum garden usage. I love it! Thanks for linking to #AllAboutYou

  4. My husband has been wanting one of these forever! I've been hesitant because I figured it was one more thing that will clutter up the pantry and we won't use it. Looks like I'm wrong too! Your smoothie sounds yummy.

  5. We are on a smoothie kick right now too! I got a Ninja blender for Christmas and was NOT excited about cleaning it or using it. It was my husband that got it out of the box and used the first time to make a smoothie...Now I'm hooked and don't mind cleaning it!

  7. I'm here to second you on the marvel that is the NutriBullet 900 Series...

Score one for BOTH of our hubs, as mine bought me one for Christmas this year, after he (no doubt) grew tired of me belly-aching about how my baby weight had taken up permanent residence on my thighs and arse.

I LOVE this thing. My go-to breakfast smoothie is something I've made up: rolled oats, fresh blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries, ground flax seed, one packet of splenda, a splash of milk, water, and ice.

Even my son comes running when he hears the whir of this tiny machine!

(I even wrote about as one of my very first -- third, I think? -- blog posts, which you can find here:

    Cheers!

  8. I'm waiting for the price to drop to about $60 for the Nutribullet. I know it will soon, either at Costco or at Walmart. I want it so much. I would love to drink some of my favorite shakes, with the fiber included! Thanks for linking up with Turn it Up Tuesday.

    1. I think it will drop in price. Ours was cheaper at Sam's Club than at Target, so I'm sure the other stores will be following soon!

  10. Oh goodness don't let him hearing you say he was right! You will never hear the end of it! I will say though I bought a blender about a year ago with the intention of making smoothies for breakfast and you know what? I never took it out of the box! I really need to break that baby out so I can have some healthy breakfast!

  11. I need one of these, I am getting into my smoothies and juicings, and this would be perfect. I like simple and fast and easy to clean up. Breakfast like these are my favorite I don't like a hearty meal until late afternoon. Thanks for sharing, I might have to pick one up when I visit my mother next month. And have it for my two month stay in the states with her and the kids. I love to add a bit of spinach or kale and frozen blueberries instead of ice. You can't taste the spinach or kale I promise and it so healthy for you. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me I am loving your posts each week. #sharewithme

  12. That actually looks like a very exciting gadget. I always want to jump on the juicing bandwagon but the fear of the mess and needing time to tidy it up in a morning puts me off!!! But this does look like an idea!! #sharewithme

  13. I've been debating buying a NutriBullet, is it that much better/different to a normal blender? I can't work out if I've just bought into the hype! PS. My husband is always bloody right.
